Lately I've been looking for something different to buy. I did some digging around and found a company in the UK that makes some really nice AC 3 rail tinplate British-prototype steam locomotives (Ace Trains). It didn't take much persuasion for me to purchase a BR passenger consist.
Although they're definitely not cheap, they do resemble the old Lionel Corp. in the way that they're constructed. No plastic, no complex circuitry, just a heavyweight shiney-metal model that surprisingly fits right in great with all of my American Lionel models.
Has anyone else seen these?
I've seen them at a few train shows. I think the North American distributor is in Vancouver BC (will check what I can for you.)
They take a wide radius curve.

I did contact them and they sent me a catalog. Very impressive workmanship and priced accordingly. I must say that the people that I spoke with were very nice and were happy to talk about their trains. If I ever get off train restriction, I think I would like to purchase one of the Royal sets.

Ace items are very well made. One train shop I go to has a Ace LNER A4 Pacific in the silver/grey early colours. Its £695 but it is a fantasic looking loco.
Maybe one day.....
