Bob,  Your best option would be either try the larger parts places like Olsen's, or try the companies that advertise as being K-Line dealers.  Lionel will honor the K-Line items dealt through them (supposedly), but for older units, it is a big question.  I would try such places as Western Depot, etc.  The reason that you have not gotten help with this one is that no one really has a good answer as parts and repair are in doubt.  For many items, a good, experienced train repair guy should be able to make something work, but cost would be an issue.

Good Luck,

Dennis

No one?  No suggestions?  No ideas where a smoke detector for a K Line engine can be found?   Surely there must be some source somewhere!

K Line Parts?
Posted by Railphotog on Monday, October 16, 2006 7:43 AM

A friend of mine has a K Line engine that needs a new smoke unit.  He is online but is not very computer literate so probably can't do much searching himself.

I don't even know which engine he needs the part for, diesel or steam ( they both can come with the smoke units).   I'm mostly looking for a firm that might offer parts.  I understand K Line was purchased recently by Lionel.  I'm not sure if my friend has checked with Lionel yet, which would be the logical way to go.

Thanks!
