I appreciate your comments and photos. Looks like I'd better plan on spending a lot of time assembling track with trestles.

well it worked great for me while i had something to the effect of what you are trying to do, but it was just a long loop. had no problem with it derailing at all. i actually got a picture of it. this is one i had set up at my sister's house this past december. the problem is getting the trestles put together and then put on the track.
I'm planning on setting up a large FasTrack layout this Christmas, including quite a bit of elevated track (and elevated switches). I intend to lay the track directly on the carpet as I easily did last year. However, I'm concerned about the stability of using the Lionel FasTrack trestles without being fastened down to 1/4 inch plywood or something.
Does anyone have any experience using the trestles and observations?
