More All Star Electric Trains - Preview / Discussion
Posted by jschmid on Friday, September 29, 2006 10:51 AM

All,

I just received an advance copy of CTT's More All Star Electric Trains and am excited that I decided to advertise in this issue.

Being a collector, operator, author and publisher, I love the stories of the “old” stuff and the history behind it.  This issue is all about the “old” stuff.  Everything is covered from Lionel, Flyer, layouts, people and yes even a story about Airex.  I didn't see anything on prewar or HO, but there is a little bit of everything for most everybody.

My personal favorite is the story about “The Mysterious Lionel Layout of 1952”.  Roger Carp and crew did a great job tracking down the identity of this layout.  His research is impeccable.

I also enjoyed "Joltin' Joe's Lionel TV Show" discussing Joe DiMaggio's appearance on the Lionel Clubhouse TV program.

Roger Carp and all once again went above and beyond.  I don’t know Roger does it all.

I just wish they could do an issue like this more than once a year.

Great work CTT.

What are your thoughts??

I've always enjoyed CTT's articles on the post war era. They used to have much more coverage of the old stuff, but the latest issue seems to have gone back to those roots. I thought it was the best issue in a long time. One great article after another.

I'm looking forward to More All Star Electric Trains. It should be in my mailbox in a few weeks. I only wish I had purchased last years issue.

It doesn't surprise me one bit that Joltin' Joe's Lionel TV Show was written about. From my one conversation with Mr. Carp, I gathered he's quite an avid baseball fan.
