The Train Barn in Portage, Michigan.
How long will it be open?
The owner Seth Geim is old and getting much older.
The City of Portage will increase property taxes if the business changes owners.
Seth has said a few times that The Train Barn will close on December 31st, 2007.
One way to keep it open is to have The Train Barn operated by the Portage Historical Society and the Vicksburg Historical Society.

There is a large layout upstairs that is open to the public for a fee. The fee is charged because people have to walk upstairs and insurance companies charge more for such dangers as staircases. Staircases can be dangerous to certain people. It is worth the danger, because Seth has built numerous buildings over the past 3 decades.
Update about current hours.
I drove up in the driveway and posted on the door of The Train Barn was the notice "Due to a Death in the Family The Train Barn will only be open on Saturday".
There is no indication how long this hour change will be in effect due to the circumstances.
There is a notice on the wall next to the door:
DUE TO A FAMILY EMERGENCY
THE TRAIN BARN WILL BE
CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 16
That means everyone can return to The Train Barn on March 17th, 2007.
