Thor,
My neighbor has one for sale, furnished, and already has a AC unit. He owns a local shortline. If you are interested, go to the web site for Georgia Southwestern Railroad. I have no idea on the cost and what it would require for transporting to your local.

You poor guy!.... fortunately, it's easy to find an old caboose for sale online. The last time I looked, they started at about 8K.
Good Luck, Thor!

My wife and I have just returned from a blissfull vacation on Virginia's Eastern Shore. We went there to welcome my daughters latest baby, Alison Storm, rather appropriately named since Ernesto had flooded the causeway to Chincoteague where she lives! Haven't seen the causeway underwater in ages and most of the island roads were underwater too. Good thing my motorcycle and sidecar wasn't too low to the ground but I still got soaked nonetheless, however I digress, as usual...
We've decided to move to the Shore in my case its a long overdue return, in Tamars case it would be her first house as she's a Manhattan girl used to living in overpriced shoeboxes. So we were looking through the real estate listings when my buddy Dave said "I've found the PERFECT place for you man!" Sure enough it was a caboose converted to a home, parked on its own short stretch of rail on a neck not far from the water, a perfect place indeed and the price was so low I'd have bought it sight unseen.
Well we moved like greased lightning but we weren't quick enough! Some sods had nicked our caboose and I had a pretty good idea who it might have been and sure enough its at Parksley station now, unless its a very long coincidence. The useless realtor didnt even know about the listing that had their name on it nor could she understand why I wanted some rusty old caboose downwind of a chicken house and a hair away from the jail!
Blast and double blast! I would have been so happy with a home like that too. Oh well, what are the chances of finding another one, eh? Mind you, I thought, I could always build a fake one myself, it wouldnt be all that hard really but whether it would neat enough to justify the cost, I dont think so. I'd happily live in a railway carriage on a siding. Perfect place for me.
