Your son is very lucky. I hope he enjoys those engines. The two I bought have been great performers and I wouldn't sell them either. Glad I could help.

Joe, Thanks for the info. I am not interested in selling, but rather am leaving it to my son. I have the boxcar as well. The set is actually quite nice and includes: 5 locomotives, 6 boxcars, The NYC "B" unit, The 2nd tender for the S2, the extra long glass case and the 5 regular cases, and all the paperwork.

John,

I don't know what Greenburg's book say about the value but from I have heard, the Century Club items have not held their original prices. I have heard from several dealers/people that they thought the GG1 was over priced. The berkshire can be found for under 900 in most places. I do not know how the other engines are fairing. I have seen some people selling the entire CC1 collection for around 5,000 but I do not know if it ever sold. I tried to sell the CC1 Berkshire and the best offer I recieved was 200 below my cost (and it was advertised for a year in the TCA publication). I never sold it and decided to run it. The most valued item was the early bird boxcar (wish I got that one). I have seen that car go for several hundred dollars. If you plan to sell the collection at some point, I would be interested in the GG1 engine as long as I have the funds at that time. I hope this helps.

PS I'm glad I ran the engines I bought (Berkshire & Turnbine with extra PA tender). Both engines are very nice, good runners, and excellent Railsounds. Only drawback, is that they are not strong pullers as both lack magnetraction.
