Roadbed

Has anyone ever used high-grade carpet matting as a roadbed? It cuts nicely with scissors or any shop knife and should be a good sound deadener. It is also paintable. If so, what have you found to be the pros and cons?

Have used on a temp. 8x8 layout with great success. It looked good (there are many designs and colors) and helped deaden sound. Ted.

Actually, I put the carpet matting across the whole table and it looked good. It was much easier than painting. I'm a runner not an interior designer. Ted.
