If you can find them, the K-Line set is very nice looking and pretty close to being accurate both in terms of consist and paint scheme.  These are aluminun, not plastic.  I think they cataloged a 15" set but I've only seen the 18" cars for sale.  The MTH set is just their standard 5 car 18" ABS plastic set and even the paint scheme isn't quite right for the prototype.  Lionel made up a set of aluminum cars in the 15"-16" as a companion set to the PW celebration series Texas Special AB F-3 set from 2001?   Cars are not accurate in consist but the paint scheme is quite attractive against the aluminum sides.  To date, I haven't seen an accurate set of E-7's (OK, custom paint jobs don't count) that would have pulled the cars.

There was a set on E-bay recently -  I don't know if they're still on or not.

Does anyone know of any Texas Special passenger cars for sale in "O" ? I'm looking for either the streamline MTH, K-Line, Lionel, or Williams sets. All the stores in CTT were out of stock. Thanks in advance.
