A comparison of the technologies, advantages/disadvantages, and costs of running a layout under Lionel's TMCC, MTH's DCS and Digitrax DCC would be intersting.

Me, I would like to read more about the forgoten engines. Diesel or steam. Like the little guys, the 0-4-0. I mean they are just forgoten. It's always the larger things that get the recognition. Like in life, the little guys are forgoten, the only reason I know this is because I'm little(short). I would like to read more about the forgoten but well deserving small engines...

More reviews of the products being produced by Lionel, MTH, K-Line, Williams, & 3rd Rail. With all of the product being produced today, the reviews are more important because no one person can buy it all and choices need to be made. Also comparison of products when manufactures make the same thing. Examples include - reviews on the Odyssey system vs MTH speed control, Lionel's talking caboose, and Gabe the lamplighter from MTH & Lionel.

we're always hearing about and reading how to fix o,g,s,etc. scales! How about ho and n? I realize you guys don't consider them old, but can we spread around a litle hint on rebuilding pre 1950 stuff? I'm talking about original parts, like you would a car etc.,or is that impossible

Hi everyone,

Some of your suggestions will be part of upcoming issues of Classic Toy Trains and will be part of the Trains.com content as well.

We're still awaiting an MTH DCS control system for a comparison review with Lionel's TMCC. Until the controller arrives (we expect it sometime June or July) the comparison story naturally has to wait. Cost of the two systems is roughly the same. The MTH system has more features, no surprise since its technology is about 8 years newer.

In the September issue of CTT will be a review of Lionel's RS11 with Odyssey. There's some comparison of it with ProtoSound speed control within the text of the review. Briefly, they are very much alike although MTH uses an optical sensor to regulate speed and Lionel uses a magnetic sensor. In conventional mode, Lionel's cruise speed must be "set" and "unset" each time by pressing the horn button and moving the throttle up and down (almost like accessing a ProtoSound "1" function). The MTH speed control system is simply "on" at whatever speed the throttle is set at. Lionel's system works that way only in command mode. Both systems are impressive and I expected many operators wouldn't want to go without it once they've tried it.
