Off Speed train whistle
Posted by Fred Bear on Saturday, August 19, 2006 7:33 AM
Anyone remember square dances? I played fiddle and guitar at some in the remote Appalachian region in which I roamed as a boy, but I remember a guy named Kenny Wheeler being able to make a train whistle sound with his mouth. He called the square dances and when we played Orange Blossom Special, he'd make this train sound that was pretty realistic! At least as a boy of 12 it seemed that way. Anyone else ever have that experience with someone being able toduplicate that sound so accurately? He did not have a wooden whistle or any kind of device, it was all done vocally. Jake
