Old with the New

If a person wants to runs some old stuff with the new stuff, and wanted to go to some remote control stuff with the elaborate sounds, exactly what would a person need to buy to get into the TMCC stuff? I have two ZW post war transformers now, so I guess it's enough power, but what is needed in the way of the control unit, etc? I'm not planning on putting new electronics in the 1666's that I run, I'll buy a new engine or two. Thanks for any help, Jake

PS. One more question. Is the 263E with whistle tender a pretty sought after item? One on Ebay I thought about pursuing, but didn't know how good it was. Someone on here did mention it in an earlier post.

Hi Jake !! You would need a base ( sending unit) & a cab-1 controller, (remote). Now that would run the TMCC engines. Now to run your conventional engines, you would need a Powermaster or a TPC, 300 OR 400.  I'll look up the stock numbers for you. The base & cab-1 should be a hundred or less & a powermaster is 45 dollars & up. TPCs are a lot more, but you have to find everything on sale, if possible !

Glad you liked that Jake & now for another real clincher, the new TMCC Legacy system is coming out soon !!  So maybe you will want to check out the new system before you make any decisions !

Actually the Command Base and Cab 1 set is... (6-12969)   $147.99.  The price John posted is for a command base only.  If you look around these are usually around $110 give or take.  I think if it were me though I'd probably wait til fall and see how TMCC2 is accepted.

Hello Fred!   Yes, 263Es are very popular & desireable to many collectors. You would not go wrong in buying one.Which version are you interested in, The Blue Comet version or the Gunmetal Grey? Both are nice looking engines. Just look out for warped frames or zinc pest.( Deterioration of the Diecast Frame or Wheels) Take Care.
