K-Line Mikado - Spring Problem???
Posted by Buckeye Riveter on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 8:17 PM

Does anyone have an idea of where to buy a replacement spring for the smoke plunger cylinder for a K-Line Mikado?

The spring needs to be stronger than the orginal in order to push the plunger back down the cylinder.  This plunger also trips a small switch that activates the chuff sounds.

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need a new spring unless yours is broken. Remove the plastic plunger and sand it down slightly with fine sandpaper. The metal smoke unit expands when heated and binds the plunger. It took me 2 trys but mine works fine now.

Neil, I have done that twice.  I have even cleaned out with a dremmel tool the metal plunger.
