Re: Marx Wind-up

Robert

If it is that loose, the wheel should come off fairly easily, then
carefully use a punch or chisel to put a dimple or notch on the axle,
then carefully re-install the wheel. If it's a piece more for show and
only occasional running........shhhhhhhh, I put a small dab of Zap-A-Gap
(crazy glue) on it. Just don't tell anyone, that's not in the repair
book.

FYI - I posted this question on the Marx group at Yahoo too.  Have not heard anything yet but if I get any ideas I will share them.

Mitch : you might try The Robt. Grossman Co. I think they are in the Cleveland area. I've seen them at train shows here & had lots of parts for Marx.

I have a couple of old Marx Wind-up trains and a loop of two rail Marx track.  When I wind up the train and then hit the lever to release it, neither of them moves around the track. The wheels will spin and the bell will ring if I lift it from the track.  Upon inspecting the train pictured below, I noticed that the one drive wheel spins on it's shaft.  The wheel rotates on what should be a splined shaft.  Any ideas on repair or should this just be a display piece?

Thanks,

Mitch
