Smashed up Lionel switcher.
Posted by RR Redneck on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 11:59 AM
My favorite Lionel switcher died last year. Till yesterday, it a dorned a spot on my office desk. That is untill some thieves broke into my shop and smashed it. Now the frame is all twisted up and the shell is in pieces. I think that it is safe to say that it is totaled. The "memorial service" is tomarrow. One of the trucks now adorns the wall of my train room.

Lionel collector, stuck in an N scaler's modelling space.

Are you sure it's dead? Really dead? 'Smashed' sounds like the shell was crushed but you may be surprised at how resilient the old mechanisms seem to be.  Maybe you can ressurect the motor  to power something else - like one of those Rail Zeppelins featured a few CTT's ago.  Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss.

I was about to agree Doug,

I was going to say "yea pick up an old non powered unit or something and slap the motor in it", then i realized he said the motor died last year.  So Im going to say "he musta called the coroner"Sad [:(]

Doug is right.  I have salvaged trucks and motors and re-used them for other engines.  Bulds, E-Units and etc are always needed.
