Hello SantaFe Kent!    That must have been a Typo you saw. 1835s had a 2-4-2 Wheel Arraingment on them.Take Care.

This website has a pdf list of prewar standard gauge engines that shows a 1939 1835 engine as a 2-4-1! How did Lionel do that?!?....
