Well - I got the Virginian FM set - very hard choice between the Virginian and the B&O F3 set. In the end I decided that Virginian was the best of the bunch - its the only FM PWC set there are so many F3 PWC sets. Probably won't be my last PWC set but for now I look forward to running this bad boy on the carpet pike and eventually under the tree. Thanks for all your input!

Same probem here 5x8 does not allow for much more than an AB or single engine run.

The 773 set would be the one I'd get, but my layout isn't big enough for it. Maybe someday I'll get a "baby" Hudson.

Having grown up in B&) country, I'd have to go woth the B&O set. I just love the F3's, although the Virginian is right up there.

although it's not one of the choices i suggest going with the super-o set. i got it last december and i LOVE it. it comes with the 773 hudson, horse car and corral, milk car, log car, operating poultry dispach, sunoco 3 dome tank car, lehigh valley hoper and penn. nc5 caboose. Best train set ever! but from those choices i'd go with the trainmaster set.

Go with the Virginian, I have one one and really like it. You can't beat the rolling stock that goes with the classy trainmaster.

Trainmaster - it screams postwar Lionel

I'd probably go with the Virginian but I must disagree with all the ravings about Postwar. These are modern trains not Postwar. It's not that I think Postwar is better or worse than modern stuff I just can't get with calling something what it isn't.

I'd have to go with the Trainmaster because there are already too many F-3 sets and not enough of every thing else

My choice:-
First the B&O because I like the color and the engine
Second the Virginian for the same reason

The B&O has the best looking locomotive, but the Virginian has the best cars.

My vote goes to the Virginian set too. Why not the 773 Hudson set?

I would go for the Virginian, the fact that I love TrainMasters may be the reason but that's they way I would go.

They are all nice. After the votes are in, go with the one that you like the best.

I have to vote the same way because it speaks to my train side the most for the reasons Paul stated. I'm a sucker for Evans Car Loaders. My all time favorite car.

I have an interest in fine watches as well and this same type of question comes up in the various brand forums, should I buy this Rolex, that Omega or whatever brand, and among the other WIS's (watch idiot savant's) the answer is always the same "I like this one... but you should buy the watch that speaks the loudest to your soul.

I'm curious what differences Lionel's PWC have with the actual PW originals. Do the new ones have the same sound and soul? Or are they modernized with traction tires and quiter motors?

Hello FEC! The B&O Set looks like a good pick to me. Colorful Train & it has more detail on the F-3 than the original version.Plus, it costs only a fraction of what a original would sell for in similar condition. Just my [2c]. Take Care.

I recently sold off much of my odds and ends and I have decided to consolidate to a Postwar Celebration Series Set. I've narrowed it down to the following which one would you pick?

#2519W Virginian TrainMaster Set

#2219W Rio Grande F3 set

#2269W B&O F3 set
