Trolley Trestle Report...
Posted by marmelmm on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 5:03 AM
As mentioned earlier this month, I set up trolleys at the Featherfest and attempted to use trestles. Results:

a) Yes, the MTH cars will take a grade.

b) If you use "D" and lower trestles, you get adequate clearance for cars to pass underneath.

c) 1022 switches don't work too good with the diverging track elevated.

d) Trestles need to be screwed together for best results, so they're not recommended for a takedown layout.

e) Marx 027 track has the ties in the wrong place to snap into the trestle clips.

Verdict: If you wanna add an elevated trolley line to your permanent layout, it'll work great! However, my takedown layout will, alas, have to remain at grade. :D

Onwards and upwards!

VTY,
