I heard that Mr. Klein was going to buy Lionel[;)] Just kidding. Actually, depending on my personal sources, I hear things, but don't spread them. From these sources, I have learned the truth on a lot of issues. I have seen many things that get posted that are simply not true. I do not know enough about the goings on behind closed doors with regard to the operational function of the manufacturers. I do know that I LOVE TOY TRAINS, and that I am looking forward to getting my layout done so I can run them.

[:-^][zzz] We hear a lot of "I heard from a reliable source that is involved in........" stories on this forum. You need to provide us with something more concrete.

BTW, K-Line announced two rail items a few years ago.

No offense, but I've heard a lot of rumors in various hobby shops and elsewhere and maybe 25% of them turned out to be true.[;)]

The O Scale Cars made under the K-Line name can be either 2-Rail or 3-Rail, it just depends on which trucks the cars are equipped with by the operator or which trucks are installed at the factory. You can buy new trucks and couplers to make them operate with your equipment.

Not very likely that you'll see much K-Line product at all--three-rail or two-rail--coming from Lionel in the near future. If anything, I expect that Lionel will treat the K-Line brand as a far-distant cousin, as they have done with American Flyer for so many years, and with Ives even before that (to such an extent that they lost use of the Ives mark.

In short, don't hold your breath waiting for previous K-Line product to appear on your dealer's shelves. At least that's my guess.

I heard last night that K-Line will be producing just 2-rail scale items. Heard this from an individual long involved in the 2 rail hobby that I consider a reliable source. He wasn't sure what scale item the Lionel would be producing under the K-Line banner. I am into 3-rail but would like to see the 21" passenger cars even if the are 2 rail because it is not much work to convert.
