Here's some information for you model railroad fans:

The Train Collectors Association (TCA) will hold its
52nd national convention in San Antonio June 18-25 at
the Crowne Plaza Hotel. TCA is a non-profit national
toy train collecting/operating club with over 31,000
members.

Major toy train manufacturers Lionel and Mikes Train
House (MTH) will have public displays at the hotel
Friday, June 23, 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, June 24,
10 AM to 4 PM. There will also be five operating train
layouts including American Flyer S gauge. The TCA
invites everyone to view these displays on the third
floor of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown San Antonio at
111 E. Pecan Street.

You may park in a ground level, open to the public,
parking lot on Martin St. This is on the back side of the hotel,
across the street (100 feet). Fee is $2.50 per 24 hour period.
Most other parking is $5.00-7.00 per day.

Wonderful city you have there. I was there for a professional meeting several times. If anyone can make it, it is a great place to go. The Riverwalk is fun, especially at night, and they have plenty of good food. One mexican eatery, I believe is called the Rio something is there and have great Margaritas. It is one of the few places that my travels take me that I look forward to going to.

Bob,
That is it!, I finished one of the large margaritas, then we started to walk down the river walk, had to go up to the street level for fear of falling in.

Looking at the web site, I was wondering what exactly are the "Trading Pits"
Is this somthing for retail, or a fancy name for members only swap meet?

I was told by someone that at a TCA National, only members were allowed in the trading pits. Spouses couldn't go unless they were members. Is this true? Totally different from York where non member spouses are welcome. If true, what is the philosophy behind that decision.

All Lionel all the time.

I might could pull this off, but it would be very difficult.

Could anyone advise me whether this would classify as a:

"neat deal if you could work it in"

or a

"get yourself there to see this no matter what it takes"

thanks!
