Thanks David. I had posted it for the 2 rail folks [on the same forum you posted] and it got zapped??????? Hope yours stays as we need to get the word around for the poor guy who is at loss.

I would hope the guy was smart enough to have insurance. If your trains aren't insured, you're just asking for trouble.

Okay, my trains aren't insured. How do you go about doing this. I mean what's the best way. Do you extend your existing homeowner's policy or buy a special antique policy.
I've got quite a bit of postwar in really nice shape. Would hate to lose it and not see anything

Hey Chief,

Thanks for the heads up on that stuff! I live in Wake Forest, NC and will keep an eye out for any strange train item activity.

We just moved here in January!

Cheers,

Ryan

Remember that trailer that was stolen in Columbus with the HO layout inside? I can't find where I posted it, but I'm sure I did earlier this year.

Chief,

Based on my friend that owns a hobby shop - the first place the crooks try is a local hobby shop. They bring the stuff in and ask for cash only. Take any price offered without haggling as it is just toys to them - they have no idea of the value of some of these things. My buddy always asks for a drivers license when they come in this way.

Regards, Roy

Need to keep an eye on the flea markets and yard sales in the seedier areas in the county.

My son is a Deputy Sheriff in Wake Co. NC. He went to a call yesterday [June 11] where an enclosed trailer was stolen. Location was between Garner NC and Clayton NC. Inside the trailer were antiques, old clocks and trains. There was an HO layout and a 2 rail O gauge layout. Lots of HO engines and rolling stock. 2 rail O gauge brass collectable engines as well as other 2 rail items. If anyone suspicious contacts you concerning the sell of items like this, please contact the Wake Co. NC Sheriff's Dept 919-856-6900. BTW: it is thought that the trailer was stolen without the knowledge of what was inside. ???
