Hello Locomotive681! $53.00 sounds too low for a engine like that in mint shape.Hope the seller is a honest person. Most of those engines have cracks around the screw holes from the assembly workers tightning them too much. Other than that. it should run fine for you as long as the Motor is clean & the grease & oil are fresh. It should pull at least 6-7 freight cars easily. More than that if they have Fast Angle Wheels on them. Let us know how everything works out for you here as I'm very skeptical about the price. Take Care.

they are very common but that does sound too low. I would say at least double that for an excellent condition one, and that's stretching it a bit.

Hello 681! Wow. Did you ever get lucky with your purchase. To put it in perspective; A Mechanical Reverse unit for a engine such as yours is around $35.00 at most parts places which is about 2/3rds of the purchase price of your 44 Tonner. Whoever sold it to you must not have been a fan of that style of engine. Sounds like you're happy with it. That's all that matters. Take Care.[:)]
