Where is that dutchman?

Hi Guys,
Just a small message to tell everyone that I'm still alive..just the train room is a bit quiet these days..
In the end of the winter I discovered that the trainroom suffered from moisture behind the insulation, which started to soak my wooden roof. I dismantled the insulation and let the roof vapour the water it soaked. Since the train room is filled with sheets of styrofoam from the roof and the trains seased operations.

Now it's getting warm outside and without insulation, my trainattic is like an oven. In the mean time my motorcycle also started acting up, so needed repair too. I opted to first fix the motorbike and when temperaturen go down after summer start with a new insulation on the roof. It still will take a while before the summer is over, so untill then I'll have to occupy myself with other things.



so this is what I'm doing now, untill temperatures drop a bit. When the trainroom is up and running again, I'll drop by more often again..

It is good to see a post from you here.
I just surfed your website and noticed that you have painted your SD28 engine from Lionel lines logo's to NS railroad. Why NS? Now that I write NS, it feels too Dutch to be true, but fortunately it is also an American railroad. Where did you get the decals? And was it easy.
Good luck with your motor, oops I should say bike.

The decals I made with the computer by using photo's from the real NS trains, then enhanced the color (black and white instead of greyish like on the photo's). Then I printed a few decals to see which size I needed.
The decals are glued onto the trains with white woodglue (very thin, you can still move them a bit and the paper of the decals gets a bit weak, so you can easily drape them around details in the bodywork).
When the colors stay this way, I want to respray them with clear paint to protect the decals, but since it's ordinary printer ink, I guess the black gets brown after a while.
Woodglue also can be removed by adding water, so if it proves not to stay in fine condition, I can easily remove them.
And I choose NS because the machine looks better in black and the pennsilvania logo's where very difficult to enhance from photographs.

And jerry, Yes, it is a beemer, a flying brick (4 cylinder car engine in bike-frame) It's 20 years old this year and has 130.000km on the clock. It started to make drivechain noises and the dynamo was weak (bearings), I changed the drivechainguides, cable's and all types of hoses, oil, coolant and refurbished the electrics.
