Big Lots find

My wife dragged me kicking and screaming to Big Lots tonight. It turns out it was a good thing she did. I found a number of 1:64 cars by Jada, including a '32 Ford, a '39 Chevy delivery van, a '47 Chevy Fleetline, and a number of cars from the '50s, for $2 each. They'd need a paint job and to have the decals stripped to be suitable on most of our layouts, but for $2, they'll make a nice project for the S and O27 gaugers. They'd also be fine for use in the background on an O scale layout, for forced perspective. It's not often you find cheap 1:64 cars suitable for our era, so it's a nice find.

Made the same trip yesterday. They also have 1/48 car "kits" that you assemble, but could also use the parts for ie a repair shop. They were mostly 60's cars, so do not fit my era. Lots of neat things on the back wall.

NON-ACETONE finger nail polish remover works great for stripping tampo printing graphics off of die cast vehicles. A little goes a long way. And as always, try this method on a junker first to make sure it doesn't ruin the paint, but I've had great success with it stripping horrible graphics off of modern Matchbox cars.
