Not had any success trying to join 027 to O gauge directly as the trains love to derail at this point for me. I use 027 to GarGraves track(three inch section) to O gauge with adapter pins for GarGraves, may not look as good as direct to 027 but I don't get the derailments either.

The adapters are intended for regular O31-profile track, so to use O27 you would have to spread the rail and re-crimp it, as Bob said.

I'd use the K-Line Supersnap track on the trestle if I were using Fastrack for everything else. The Supersnap meets the "looks more real" criteria, and mates up to the transition sections without any issues.

I used K-Line for mine, I tried O27 but it just doesn't line up too well.
I hid the transition behind part of the small mountian and some scenery.

Five degrees is a pretty steep grade, about 9 percent. You might want to check whether your trains can handle it before building the trestle.

Since you can set the trestle height wherever you want, I see no problem with using O27, which will look more realistic. If you have adapters meant for O31, the pins will be too large, but the O27 rails are easily spread and recrimped around the larger pins.

Because of the shorter ht. of O27, you should use "O". I agree that FasTrack does not "look right" raised-up, but why not use a brand that looks "more real" (Gargraves, etc.) for the raised parts than the standard tubular track ? Joe

Using Fast track with standard O Guage track
Posted by tex702 on Saturday, May 6, 2006 7:07 AM
I hope this doesnt sound to stupid but I am presently building a trestle from scratch. The rate of incline is 5 degrees. I want to use standard O guage track on the incline because fastrack isnt appropriate on a trestle. My question is with using the adapters from fast track to standard track must I use standard O guage or can I also use O-27 guage track.
