Speaking of Rokenbok, did anyone run into John Brady (formerly of Lionel) at York? John is the honcho of Rokenbok in San Diego, and I understand he was going to be at York, along with another friend of mine. Any sightings?

Here is a link to a nice Rokenbok Layout. Rokenbok is a somewhat futuristic toy building set with an industrial theme that uses up to 8 wireless remote controlled vehicles, up to 4 at a time to move and sort little balls. The contoller is similar to a video game controller. They scale out to about 1/32 scale. There is a monorail so technically it fits into the "Toy Train" theme. The company is based in San Diego.

Starter sets cost around $100-150. With new add on vehicles costing $60-100. The sets are very popular with 6-12 year old kids. In the next 15 years these will be the fondly remembered first train sets of the next generation.

There are a few ex-model railroaders making layouts in Rokenbok. There is even a small forum at www.rcblocks.com.

Here is the link to the layout . http://public.fotki.com/Sstange/rokenbok/rok_photos/
The slideshow format worked best on my Mac.
He is using a postal scale to weigh the load in the vehicle and runs a realistic work schedule like scale model railroaders do sometimes. You can see it in some of the pics. The Monorail runs into the red shed in one of the shots. There are even some very psycadelic looking mine interior scenes. I guess if you are mining for blue and red balls the ground would be purple. Makes sence.
