As mentioned, see if others in your area are interested. Make scanned copies of the articles, and then you could share the magazines with someone else, you never know if they might have something to share/give to you. In the end, this hobby is full of good people who enjoy helping each other.

Forget making money off the magazines.
Personally I dont mind paying a dollar or two for several. But have enjoyed the generosity of local modelers who made unwanted issues availible for free.
Dont throw those issues away. I see an oppertunity to scan it into a digital file and sharing with others over the internet. Paper may wear and fall apart but digital files are pretty stout and might be useful to someone.

As mentioned, they probably are not worth much. The only ones selling for any type of money would be special features, like "The Neil Young Interview", or something like that that would have meaning and only to a person with that particular interest.
Now, for your statement about "like I would trash a 50 year old model train mag that could help me add to my layout out", it would not be unreasonable for someone to suggest not tossing them as you obviously are interested in selling them, and if you found you could not get a good price, one might reason that you would indeed toss them. I have a good number of different train magazines from the 50's all the way up to today, and I enjoy going back and getting ideas and seeing photos of old trains and layouts, but I would not pay a lot for them.
