Thank you for the clarification. I am actually doing the same thing now with my LGB engines. I have been converting them to MTS (LGB's command control system) by putting a decoder between the track power and the motor. It now makes sense.

It just seemed odd to me that the two Postwar Celebration sets were about $50.00 cheaper than a couple of the premium train sets that also included Railsounds, TMCC, and a Pittman motor.

John, you get the same results as if you were to upgrade a postwar loco with one of the aftermarket TMCC units. Only its a lot neater since the space is designed to take the electronics.

TMCC technology can be used with either AC or DC motors. If you have a board that supports the current draw, you can use it with a pre-war standard gauge loco assuming you can figure out a way to get an antenna signal into a stamped steel shell. TMCC electronics go\ in between the pickup rollers and the return feed to the outside wheels. You can hook up the motor, lights, whistle/bell to the appropriate "ports" on the board, hook up the antenna and away she goes.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you clarify how using the old technology of a Pullmor motor can be used with TMCC? It would seem to me that they would not be compatible.

A PullMor in a PW Celebration series locomotive is an attempt to preserve those elements that made the PW trains memorable. The motor is basically the same as the original's and has all of the original's charm's and foibles. If you like your toy trains to run the way they did in 1950's but with modern sounds and command control you will like these. If you want the train to run the way a modern flywheel equipped can motored unit would run, you'll be disappointed.

Hello All:

As I was perusing the Volume I 2006 Lionel catalog I came across their Postwar Celebration Series. For those two sets, the catalog indicated that the locomotives are equipped with Pullmor motors. Are these like the old time Pullmors? Or, is it just marketing jargon? Are they as nice as the Pittman motors that they, MTH and others use? Or, are they a cheaper can motor?
