Lionel used to make a Crayola Crayon Box Car pictured below. I found it at Train City in Erie, PA. who handles used trains.

It might be cheaper to find used decorated boxcars at shows. Below is a repaint I did. I took a Lionel reefer and primed it with white primer, then painted it Pulman green, and finally applied home-made decals to create the milk car, the middle of 3 cars in the photo.

Weaver Models at www.weavermodels.com has all their freight cars available in undecorated. Most undecorated freight cars are white. There are many types of cars to choose from so that you do not end up with a repetitive train.

Pick the Die-Cast Trucks if you can afford them and plan to operate them.

Blank boxcars?
Posted by Demon09 on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 11:48 PM
Hello again all,

I was just wondering if there is somewhere I could find blank white boxcars that could be painted with custom colors? This isn't something I will be doing soon, but at some point I would like to create custom designs for family events, holidays, and other custom graphics but have never seen blank boxcars anywhere. Would I have to pick up inexpensive boxcars and paint them white to "blank the template" or can I find them online or from specific companies?

Just a passing thought..... thanks in advance for any suggestions.....
