When it gets hot use a shorter rotation time on your engines so you don't fry them. Last summer our AC was out for a few days and a friend and me ran the trains for a while in 90-plus temperatures. I ran the old 675 and he had a MPC Hudson and they both got hot after 20 minutes or so. Do think of that, and the rain.

GarGraves also makes standard gauge track, some parts of their website is incomplete so you might want to call them.

Gargraves O stainless flex track (GG202) is under $5.00 for each 3 ft. section - and is around $4.70 each in cases of 50. No need to buy curves. Treat your installed track ties w/ CWF-UV clear and you will have them preserved well.

Some of the guys here in Pittsburgh that run O gauge outdoors, recommend Atlas nickel-silver track. It doesn't rust and the plastic ties are UV approved.
Their stock switch machines would not be suitable for outdoors however.

Welcome Eric,
GarGraves Track Company makes stainless steel track in Lionel 027 size and this should be what you are looking for, the price is around $10.00 for a 36.75 inch straight and curves in 42 inch should be around $7.00 each. You can use either GarGraves or Ross Custum Switches or Curtis Switches for the switches without any adapter pins needed, Ross and GarGraves mate perfectly with just GarGraves pins.

O Scale Outside?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 30, 2006 2:03 PM
Does anyone make track suitable for building an 0 scale layout outside, like a garden railroad? I know a lot of Large Scale is designed for this purpose, but I do not really want to invest in yet another scale if it can be avoided.
Thanks.
Eric
