I solved the problem, added the tether and it runs great. I can creep through a switch with no hesitation. Why didn't Lionel build it that way?

Has anyone else had problems with this loco negotiating switches without stalling? Mine will not go through the curved leg of a Realtrax 042 unless it is going like mad. The pickup rollers are only 2-1/8" apart. What was Lionel thinking. The rollers on a Docksider are 3-1/2" apart. Since there is no tether the tender pickup rollers do not help with engine pickup. Comments?
