there is 4 terminals on the bottom of the light house. one is hot, ground and the other 2 are for the foghorn. I just want to turn the lighthouse on and off with the remote using the aiu.

I am not familiar with this accessory but it sounds like you want the AIU to be able to turn on and off the entire lighthouse, and then once it's ON, to be able to control the foghorn separately. I would need to see the wiring diagram for the lighthouse, but this should not be difficult to do. What spankybird wrote is probably right. You will need to use 2 AIU ports.

I don't use one, but to turn the item on and off, it sounds like he is on the right track (so do say). Wire one of the two power wires to a second switch and turn it on and off with that.

MTH AIU questions

I am trying to hook up a lionel rotating beacon lighthouse with the fog horn to my aiu. So far I ran the power and ground to their power source and the other 2 into the 1 and IN of the aiu which makes the fog horn work. My question is how do you turn the power on and off to the accessory. Would you have to go into a new accessory port on the aiu and if so how would it be wired and which wires? Im thinking to split the power and run one from the transformer to the aiu and the other to the accessory. Is this right and where would you connect them....If anyone is familiar with this your help would be much appreciated.
