Smashed Lionel No. 634 Switcher.

I owned on from 1964 that took me four years of looking through boxes at garage sales and train shows, I found it at long last last year. Well last weekend one of my brothers friends decided that he would throw a hissy fit when it was just them and my dad. I was in Victoria buying some supplies to fini***he basic scenery. When we came back, the engine was sitting lopsided on the tracks and the shell was way over on the other side of the train room.

Now, that engine's paint job was in *** near perfect condition, and there was nothing wrong with it mechanically. What I want to know is how much was that engine worth so I can bill his parents.

Well now that the damage is done it is time to assess what is needed for repair.If a new shell is need you have to contact a dealer.If the chassis is bent then you have to decide if the repair will be worth it.You may be better off buying another one if the cost of repair would exceed the value of the piece.

Bil the kid's parents for #200 or so. Make it a lesson learned for them! And keep that kid out of your house in the future. Your dad may have a lesson in store for your borther, as well.

All kids aren't bad! Heck, Im a 12 year old wich is a kid...LOL And I collect trains that are cotrolled by me! I do put them away another kid is coming over though. I mean controlled a train when I was 5. WITHOUT HELP. I knew what to do. Don't call a kid an

First of all HOW OLD IS THE KID!!!! If he is 4 then dont worry! HES ONLY 4!!!
If he's that young and you charge his parents 200 dollars, Then his parents will say Be more careful with his(your name) trains. Or Something like, you have to ask for permission to go see(your name)'s trains. First you need to find out how old he is. Then figure out the rest.

The kid is at least 10 years old, he knew what he was doing. He knew the possible consequences. He realized what he was doing.

I disagree. Maybe I'm from the old school, but there's no excuse for kids behaving like that, especially in someone else's home. Destruction of property is also completely unexceptable. One of my wife's cousins has a kid like this. He's mean, intentionally destructive, a sneak, a bully, etc. I don't take my eyes off of him when he's at our house, and I don't let him near my kids or their things. Kids in my home are well behaved or they get shown the door. I think if more people taught their kids the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behavior, the world would be a much better place.

My response was aimed at this sort of remark and the general attitude of RR Redneck. The name suits him well.

Time to take the road less travelled. Don't go the route of vengence, instead, do as Kieth suggests and get a shell if that is all that is broken. From my experience, one of the first things that break on these is a coupler, so check that too. If you are such a builder / designer as your profile suggests, you should be able to fix the engine, unless it has heavy damage to the frame, etc. The kid is at least 10, you say, well, he is not a teenager which would be different, if he is only 10, the lessons you could teach are small. The lesson you can learn is big. Remember, life is only 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. In the future, lock your trains up, or limit exposure to hostile forces (your brother and his friends).
Now that you have my[2c], you can do what you want, but it would be better to start showing that you are ready to be a man. He is not your child to punish.
