Thanks Allen, that cleared up the typo thing for me--I've only seen the movie as " Emperor of the North." I found the VHS version at a train show years ago. I love it! Anyway, I clicked on Amazon's listing for "Emperor of the North," and it went right to the one called "Emperor of the North Pole!" Good enough for me--mine's on order!!

Thanks again, placed the order and looking forward to watching it. I also ordered a book by Ken Johnson and another by Roger Carp.

Will have to remember this should I need a 'filler' for free shipping. Since I just purchased a VCR version at York last Oct.

No typo! The film was released under two different titles during its original lifetime: "Emperor of the North" and "Emperor of the North Pole." It's the same film.

I just want to make sure here, but is this the same movie? They've called it "Emperor of the North POLE" and the movie I have on VHS with Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine is "Emperor of the North." Their DVD release date for "Emperor of the North" says September, 2000. I've tried seeing how to contact them--I think they've made a typo.

No kidding!!!!

Now I'm going to have to get a DVD player for the train room, as well as upgrade the TV. So much for inexpensive DVD's.[:0][B)][:p][;)]

I've been a fan of Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin for years. I thought we'd seen Borgines meanest in From Here to Eternity, but he really showed it in Emperor. Sure wouldn't want to tangle with him! Great movie.

I, too, will definitely want the DVD because my VHS video has seen a lot of use. It's one of those films that I want to have available at all times.

A must have!!!!! And the price is right.

It was recently on "On Demand", and I must have played it a dozen times while worling on my layout. Prior to that, I was wearing out a tape I had copied off cable.

A-NO. 1 to Portland on "19"

Jim,
Thanks for the notice. I will have to order it. Not sure when I will get to view it, but at least I will have it on hand. My wife and I have many, many movies still in the plastic wrap as they are not something that interests the kids, and when they go to sleep, we do too. Anyway, have a good one.
