[%-)] I've owned the software for a couple of years and never had any problems with upgrades. Have you tried sending them an e-mail describing your problem?

From what I remember, the newest version of the libraries will not work with version 4.0 of RRtrack. I ran into this when i bought some additional libraries-- I had to upgrade to version 4.02 in order for the libraries to work. I really need to go and update the libraries i've got, as most of them are build ver. 4.2 (current builds are 4.3)

I bought the software last week (or at least it arrived last week). I've been real happy with it, although my experience has obviously been limited. I've already designed my first layout with it. Actually, I designed two, because the first layout, which I have been planning on paper for a month fell through. That original layout I loved, but when I put it on RR-Track I realized that it just wasn't going to work. While disappointing, it saved me a load of cash and even greater frustration than if I had not realized the design problems until after purchasing my track!!

Anyway, I suggest upgrading to a new version of the software. Try emailing Russ with your problems (support@rrtrack.com) and hopefully he can help. I emailed him on friday with an issue and he got back to me this morning. Good luck!

LAYOUT SOFTWARE

HAS ANYONE USED THE "RR-TRACK" SOFTWARE FOR DESIGNING A LAYOUT? I PURCHASED THAT PROGRAM ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO. THE SOFTWARE IS NOW SOMEWHAT DATED AND I WANT TO UPGRADE. UPGRADES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FREE, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DOING SO. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A CONFUSING SET OF INSTRUCTIONS ON THE COMPANY'S WEB SITE FOR UPGRADING SINCE I HAVE BEEN USING PCS (SINCE 1985). WHAT I REALLY NEEDED WAS AN UPGRADE TO THE ACCESSORY LIBRARIES THAT WOULD CONTAIN NEW ENTRIES. BUT ALL THAT HAPPENS IS A DESTRUCTION OF THE SOFTWARE, REQUIRING ME TO RELOAD THE OLD PROGRAM FROM MY DISK.

ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. ALSO, ARE THERE ANY COMPETITORS TO THIS PROGRAM?
