Lionel layout/club on Santa Catalina Island

In the early to mid Fifties, there was a club layout on Santa Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California. Does anyone have any information and or photographs? It would be a good article in an issue of Classic Toy Trains.
The layout as I remember was Postwar Lionel. Thanks, Mick
