DCS and TMCC
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 8:52 PM
I have DCS and MTH engines, and I just ordered a new lionel engine. I bought the TMCC comand base and wired it to the TIU. My power source is a new ZW, and I used the left outside handle to run the layout. When I tested the track there was no voltage and in it or either outside handles on the transformer. I tested the two inside handles of the ZW and they have power. I used one of these inside handles to run the layout and it works fine, except there is still no power in the two outside handles(I hit reset). Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think you have to hit the the TR button which gives you the track number set up, your tracks are numbers 1-4. Hit TR then 1 and turn your knob to the right this should power up your track. Then you use your TMCC for engines, by pressing Eng then number of engine.
Hope this helps.

I don't have the CAB-1 remote, supposedly you can run lionel engines with the DCS remote. Are these instructions for the DCS remote? Here is my exact problem: When I disconnect everything related to TMCC and leave DCS hooked up power comes out of the outside handles of the ZW and the MTH engines work fine. When I connect the TMCC equipment the power coming from the handle stops and nothing works.

The DCS remote can only control TMCC ENGINES, not switches, not accessories, not routes and most importantly not TRAINS/TRACKS. The ZW is considered a TRack device when it see's/hears a command base carrier signal. If you look at the pages I referenced in my previous post, the ZW is doing exactly what it's supposed to do if it sees a carrier signal and has not been programmed from it's default.

There are a number of functions that are not available even in the ENG domain so most users of DCS and TMCC have a CAB-1 around to program/access these features. You are going to need to find a CAB-1 to try and do what you are asking about.
