Hi Guys,
I noticed this topic and wanted to share some tips.

I made my own signal holder boxes. Since they were inside the tunnels, I didn't care about details.
You can only see the led's anyway.
Cut down a square wooden moulding and dill 3 holes in it using a drill press.
Make sure the led lamps and holders fit in the holes.
Sand & paint silver. Insert g,y,r, leds and wire to the MTH I.T.A.D.
Run wires through anything you choose for a model pipe.
I only operate red & green through the tunnels for effects only.
The I.T.A.D. timer is adj for a 6 car train and controls the led after the subway passes the signal box location.
I also cut out the foam walls and inserted yellow leds along the route for tunnel light effects.
There are some examples on my Yahoo photo site. Click on MTA Layout.

Hope this helps.

Not sure about replicas, but my father is supplying NJ Transit with the real ones. One thing they are starting to do is place strobe lights in the tunnels and just outside the tunnels to alert track workers when a train was aproaching.

Art, I'm unaware of manufacturers of the exact prototype - there are signals that I've seen kitbashed into something similar - using the 21st Cen system by Atlas; ones by Z Stuff for Trains and even the Lionel/MTH double signals.

Hi, Does anyone know who might manufacture replicas of signals used on the subways around the country. The prototypes are/were made by Union Switch and Signal and General Railway signal.
Thanks,
Art
