Bulb for old switch an end of track bumper both marx

thats ok ChesBchRy I have those old Guy moments all the time. I went to RS today they did not have the 1447 they did have the 52 bulb and it looks like it is working Thanks all

ChesBchRy, I think you meant the 1447 (rated at 18V and used in early O22 switches), not the 1449 (rated at 14V). Both are G3-1/2 size (7/16" diameter) and have the same threaded base.

Radio Shack's 2000 catalog shows both the 1447 and the 1449 bulbs, but both are listed under special "RSU" numbers, meaning they were special order. RS's website doesn't show either one, even when searching with the RSU number.

A 52 bulb (RS #272-1127) has the same dimensions as the others, is rated at 14.4V but only half the watts (1.4W vs. 2.8W). Lower wattage would mean a dimmer lamp also a cooler lamp. It should be available at the RS store and it's listed on the website.

If all else fails, there's always a mail-order company specializing in lamps. One vendor I like is Town & Country Hobbies ( www.towncountryhobbies.com ). The downside is the shipping charge if you're only ordering a few lamps.

Thanks to all be going to Radio Shack to tomorrow Thats the only thing around me thats close 14 mi. I live way out in the country. Austin is 75 miles round trip with only two train shop and there small one at that.

Use a #1449 replacement bulb (18V) for both applications.
These are available from Korber. If you can't get these, try
Radio Shack, but get the 14V-16V or 18V screw base bulbs.

The #1449 is the old GE number but they are now made by
Japanese with the same number. Also get the "small globe"
bulbs so they fit inside the switch heads. #1449 comes in
two globe (glass) sizes. The small ones are about 3/8" and
the larger ones are about 1/2". Both bulbs are electrically
the same.

Hi Guys
I have an old marx switch that has a light in it but its gone all that was in it was the bottom but I can find any # on it. I see Japan on it and I thank 12V but not sure. It’s a screw in about 1/2 in base. And I have a end of track by marx and with the same base. Any of you guys might know what bulb I can get that will work in these? Gary
