I took a Q-Tip, cut the fuzz off and used the shaft to move the contacts around on the drum w/power on, and that seems to be the place where the trouble lies. I have ordered more new ones from a different source

The fingers are probably not pressing on the drum with enough force. It is tricky to get them into the right shape and then to avoid bending them out during assembly, whether American Flyer or Lionel.

Having motor trouble, 435 loco. Put new e-unit drum contacts on and now only goes once in 8-10 tries. E-unit works every time, motor runs smoothly and fast when it does decide to go, pushing doesnt help. Everything been cleaned and spiffed up as needed. Any help>????

I need a Gilbert era crane, looks like immediate post war one.
