Yes, there is a fix. Reading from Greengerg's Guide to Lionel Trains, 1970-1997, Volume III: Accessories: "operationally, one problem does occur: Sometimes the mechanism will not allow the paddleman to go back far enough to let the next ice cube drop from the chute." The solution is to cut off about an 1/8 inch off the paddle blade. That's Roland E. Lavoie's advice, the authur of the book.

The figure does not go back far enough to allow the paddle to drop behind the cube to push it. Other than this it works fine. You can stop the operation and manually move the figure when it is as far back as it will travel when operating. Is there a fix for this problem ?
