A smoke unit is around $25 so I would not wait to see who will do warrentee service. By the time it is resolved all the items will be over a year old and out of warrentee anyway. Any decent Hobby Store will do the repair if you do not want to do it. Also when the electronics fail there are plenty of secondary market companies that will replace TMCC components or you could go the DCS Proto2 kit as I have done on two Kline engines whose electronics have failed.

I would just sit tight for a bit til the dust settles and see where who does what.
At the worst it could be easily replaces by a competent repair shop.

Who will honor K-line warranty?

I purchased a Kline PRR K-4. The smoke unit does not work at all. My question is who can I send the engine back to? I am supposed to have a 1 year warranty on the engine. Will lionel repair the engine? If I cannot get lionel or kline to repair the engine can I get a replacement smoke unit for this engine from kline, lionel or trainamerica studios? If I can buy the smoke unit I would because shipping the item to lionel or kline will cost 15 to 20 dollars.
