Thanks guys. Sorry Jim, you are correct. I have so many engines, I have trouble keeping them straight.

Tom,

Isn't this the second time you've posted this question? The first time I provided a link to Olsen's Train Parts for you. They also have the part you're looking for. If I remember, it was approx. $14, but I'm not going to bother looking it up or linking to Olsen's a second time. You do it.

i just check McComas and Tuohy's POstwar Guide (a pretty reliable source) and there's no mention of any changes to the 2056, meaning all should have the metal rear truck.
I have a 2056 with the metal rear truck as well. McComas does however state that in 1953 when magnetraction was added again, and the number reverted to 2046, some of the later models had plastic rear trucks.
It's highly possible that someone replaced the truck with an incorrect one. or you have some sort of transition example.
Ebay would be a great source for an original replacement.

Hello Tom! Your 2056 should have the Diecast Truck on the rear. Sounds like someone did a switch & changed trucks on your engine. Warren's Model Trains has a boxful of the proper trucks. Just go to their website & e-mail them to find out price & shipping charges. Take Care.

2056 rear truck mystery
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 9:20 AM
I recently aquired a 2056. It has a 2055-42 plastic side rear truck. All pictures and even greenberg point to a 2046-69 all metal truck. This engine is the Korea War engine-no magnetraction. Did they make any with the 2055-42 truck or do you think the 2046-69 truck was pulled for parts?
Thanks
Tom
