I have a 2020 from '49. It was my dad's and it is why I got into toy trains. She needs some work, but runs fine and looks great. Still uses pill smoke, but that's OK. I may put one of the new LEDs in for the headlight and do a regular overhaul soon. Dennis

Glad to see someone else still has a 2020. I have mine since about 1947, I've converted it to TMCC when TAS first offered the hardware. My conversion is without sound. To date I haven't seen a sound chip offered for the steam turbine. Years ago I also converted to a liquid smoke unit and with running at 18V its the best smoker I own.

Hopefully I get a few more years out of it, the drivers are worn to razor sharp rims.

Lee,
Thank you very much for your tips. I got the Lionel loco working fine by now. only the wheels need cleaning due to corrosion on the iron surface, but i will try to clean it with a fine -600-emery cloth.
Please take a look at WWW.TheMotorDoctor.com, interesting web site about repairs! All the best and keep in touch!
