The only way you can control the max speed is to set the voltage to the track lower. Lionel TMCC locos run fine when the track voltage is reduced, but smoke output will be reduced and electro-couplers may not fire/release below 17 volts.

The CC is not like your car. You are not setting a fixed speed to maintain. Lionel Odyssey maintains constant speed for the current track voltage (until you change it and it readjusts for conventional) or the current speed step setting (Last TMCC speed increment or decrement in TMCC environment).

It should have cruise control. I'm not a fast operator (not realistic for the scale) but I would like to set the max speed so that when some of my train buddies come over they will not be tempted.

When you say you are not satisfied, is it to high or to low. I have an SW-8 and mine is just fine, I never run it very fast as it is a switcher so never worried about the Max setting.

Noel, I do not have this switcher. However - when you mention maximum speed, are you suggesting the speed the Cruise Control is set at or if not equipped with cruise control, maybe this engine is geared very low since it is a switcher.

Does anyone have experience with the Atlas O SW-9 TMCC Switcher? I have read the instruction booklet that came with the engine and I'm not satisfied with the maximum speed setting. Is there some secret function not listed in the program booklet that I may have overlooked?
