Hello Model A! Yes, Your 51 can be converted to a electronic e-unit. The Newer versions of your Motorized unit have electronics wired to the Pullmore Motor with a slide switch to activate it. Have Lionel e-mail a wiring diagram for you & you should be all set. Take Care.

I would like to know if it's possable to up grade a old 51 army switcher .with a new type 600-013-001 printed reversing unit . I am not real happy with the old style reversing units
