Lionel tester for repairs

Arduk Engineering does indeed build a replica of the Lionel test bench. They just sent me the info on it about a month ago. Price is right at $700, shipping included

"Greenberg's Rapair and Operating Manual for Lionel Trains 1945-1969" has instructions for 5C, 5D, and 5F testers. It is available from Amazon.

Olsen's Toy Trains has information only on the 5D and 5F:

Except for wire, Oleson's doesn't seem to offer any parts in the 5D parts list.

I checked the indexes for past issues of Classic Toy Trains but didtn't find anything on building a tester. Like Chuck, I suspect the article might have been in O-Gauge Railroading magazine. OGR doesn't publish an index, but they do sell CD's of past issues ( www.ogaugerr.com ) up to Run 159.(June, '98).

I think there was a Company making these a while back & advertizing in the 0- gauge magazines by the name of Arduck, or something like that. I will do some checking. Thanks, John

I don't have access to my "library" at the moment but I believe the article you are asking about was in OGRR. I will check my back issues when I get home. You can get a description pf the original one on the Olsen's Toy Train site in their Library section.

This is going to drive me nuts. I swear I saw a write up on building one, somewhere. The old service manual has all the info on building one. I'm looking at the Greenberg edition right now. The Olsen site might have this on line. If I run accross it, I'll post a followup.

The one my dad has is the older one with the old 5 rail assesory track on it.
I think the artical I read you could build a few for that price.
Now I am most deffinetly am holding onto the one we have now.

Could any one tell me where I could find an artical I seen a while ago on building your own tester. If I remember it looked alot loike the one lionel made for testing/repairing your trains. We have 1 of the ones that lionel made but my dad uses it fo repair at his house & I would like one for my house to do repair on.
With that would any one have copies of the booklets that would have come with that & know of anyplace I could go & get replacement items to restore his back to original.
