Lionel FasTrack 1 3/4" fitter sections

My local hobby shop is out and says these are out of stock nationwide. I presume it's because Lionel underestimated demand. Has anyone heard when these might be in stores again?

I needed two of them. I searched the internet til I found them. Had to pay 8 dollars in shipping, but I had to have them. I found them at gryzboski trains. Could have kicked myself too because two weeks earlier I had order some items from them and could have saved 8 dollars in shipping by having them shipped with my big order. Oh well.

My local dealer is out and doesn't know when to expect them. I needed one for my Christmas layout, luckily I had enough of a straight run and could force closing the loop without dire consequence. Now I have until next Christmas to find one. I'm too frugal, i.e. cheap, to spend more on shipping than the item is worth.

My "local" (40 miles away) dealer thinks new production of fitter pieces may be available in March.

Yes, we're being told they'll be available again in late March.

I got lucky, I went to the Great Scale Model Train show in Timonium, MD last Saturday, which in the past few years has included a fair number of toy trains and dealers. In the far back corner of the "scale" building was a dealer with a whole box of the 1-3/4" sections. I only needed 2 but I bought 4, and I was glad I did! The layout I was trying to assemble needed 3 of the 4 in order for everything to line up properly.

Thanks for all your input. Now that I know the final track geometry, I can begin the scenic design of next season's Christmas layout. It's never too early!
