Layouts/ state by state.

Has anyone other than myself thought about a Layout registry by state to state?
We have something like it for the antique tractors for the shows that come durring the year.
It could be somthing like sights of intrest for model train buffs/buffets.
opperating layouts, tech shops, parts & museums small & large.
(Some day I would like to have a small museum).
Have things both with regular hours & by appointment.
What I have now is small but persons would like to see it I am always willing to show it or talk.

Somthing else in my neck of the woods here in the mason MI area we have a model train club that works with HO mostly, Would there be any takers in the area for the same set up only with S , Hi Rail/3 Rail or both.

Ed, the NMRA has something like that for clubs - and also for layouts with websites. CTT ran something not long ago about layouts open for visiting. I'll look up the issue number. I save it in the car for when we are traveling.. I like the idea a lot.

It's the May 2005 issue that has the list of open layouts. If you're ever in Cupertino, CA on the 2nd or 4th Saturday of the month, come on by and see the layout of the Golden State TTOS.

I always thougt that instead of a listing, an interactive map that you could click on and find stores, layouts, muesum or excursion trains would be a great idea for Trains.com.

When I see a listing of a train store in Bukoo, Somestate, I have no idea what it is close to in that state without the map.

You can find train stores, railroad attractions, and many other things from any location you pick...even within a milage you select. Joe
