Yes you need a seperate transformer to power your accessories. 75 watts of power isnt that much if you are running a train with sound and lighted cars. If MTH had terminals for accessories, just a couple lights would put you over the transformers capabilities.

I have an old Lionel starter set transformer that I run my accessories with. The lower wattage transformers I see on e-bay seem to sell at decent prices. Sometimes Hobby shops have a stock of older used transformers for cheap.

mth 750 transformer and accessories

Hi Everyone,
I'm building a 4x8 3-rail layout powered by a z750. Do I need a seperate transformer to power accessories? I know I can run them right off the controller but the building lights go bright and dark as I control the train. Why in the world doesn't MTH have accessory capabilities built into their transformers, or am I missing something?

Thanks for your help!
Bob
